Approximately 1/3 of the students achieved A* or A in every subjects and more than 90% of the students were admitted to their first choice university. In the GCSE test, over half of all grades awarded the equivalent of A* and A . 98% of students achieving the English Baccalaureate (5 or more passes in core GCSE subjects). The principal said: "Much has been written in the national press about the more rigorous examinations and the pressure placed on students. I firmly believe that at Moreton Hall we have a unique environment and the right balance of nurture and stretch, which is exemplified in these outstanding results.”
Academic progress is as important as pastoral caring. Every student has his or her own academic tutor who arranges meetings at least twice a week to conduct a one-on-one or small group discussions. Tutors would monitor their learning progress and set goals to ensure that students could cope with all kinds of problems with their best ability. Moreover, tutors would keep in touch with houseparents on a daily basis to get the track of students’ growth and deliver the information to the academic department.
