Concord Summer School of 2019（part 2）
Senior Programmes (for age 13 to 17)
Dates: July 2 to July 24, 2019; July 27 to August 18, 2019
Each course consists of theoretical, practical and group work.?The aim is to increase knowledge, improve confidence and develop the skills to work with others.?Students studying Science and Maths will follow the UK GCSE and A Level syllabus. There are six courses for students to choose:
English with Active English
Students will benefit from 15 hours per week of classroom based English including reading, writing, speaking and listening.?They will also have 6 hours per week learning English.
Active English lessons are structured to provide opportunities for students to improve their English and learn subject-related vocabulary through activities they enjoy. Active English courses of Senior Programmes include Art, Drama, Cookery, Music Performance, Dance, Movie Making, Music Technology, Outdoor Activities, Problem Solving and Sport.

English with Active Science
Students will benefit from 15 hours per week of classroom based English including reading, writing, speaking and listening. They will have an additional 6 hours per week learning English through Active Science consisting of Science based projects.
Future Leaders with Debating and Public Speaking (minimum B2)
Students will benefit from 21 hours per week of lessons. The timetable consists of classroom based activities including critical thinking, problem solving, presentation skills and leadership theory. This programme is not an English course but is delivered in English and is suitable for students with a minimum of B2.
General Science with Active English (minimum B1)
Students will benefit from 15 hours per week of laboratory based Science lessons, consisting of theory and practical sessions. They will have an additional 6 hours per week learning English through a varied timetable of Art, Cookery, Dance, Drama, Movie Making, Music Performance, Music Technology, Outdoor Activities, Problem Solving and Sport.

General Science with Active Science (minimum B1)
Students will benefit from 15 hours per week of laboratory based Science lessons, consisting of theory and practical sessions. They will have an additional 6 hours per week learning Science through a varied timetable of Additional Biology, Additional Chemistry, Additional Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Extended Project, Maths, Problem Solving, Research Skills and Technology.
Select Science (minimum B1)

Students will benefit from 21 hours per week of laboratory based Science lessons, studying two subjects consisting of theory and practical sessions in preparation for academic study at GCSE or A Level (or equivalent). It aims to improve students’ ability and confidence in the practical work and stimulate their interest and passion in science and mathematics. Concord expects that the programmes will provide students with more experimental experiences to help students develop hands-on skills, experiments designing skills, data recording and analysis skills, so that students can have a more intuitive understanding of the theory.
Subjects combination: Biology and Chemistry, Chemistry and Physics, Physics and Maths, Biology and Maths, Maths and Economics. Students need to select one combination.

In addition, from 5 PM to 6:30PM (except for Wednesday) and the entire day of Sunday, students can also participate in various extracurricular activities:
Ball games: basketball, soccer, volleyball, rounders, badminton,?cricket, dodge, rugby, etc.;
Other sports: swimming, climbing wall, trampoline, cycling, high ropes, aerobic boxing;
Outdoor activities: camping, boating, jungle survival experience, drifting, mountain biking, rock climbing, cycling, fishing, hiking, etc.
Every night there are various evening events for students to choose: laser-quest, bowling, cinema, karting, ice-skating, paint-balling, etc.

Concord’s on-campus facilities include mufti-functional sports halls, aerobics and weight training room, dance room, football pitches, volleyball courts, basketball courts, tennis courts,indoor heated swimming pool, climbing wall, and indoor stadium, etc.
In their spare time, students can enjoy various activities in the school and fully experience the charm of Britain's top boarding school. Of course, students can also choose to paint in the studio, make sculpture and various kinds of handicrafts, or practice all kinds of Musical Instruments in the music practice room, as well as borrow the school’s music scores to practice singing, experiencing the life in music. In addition, the school will organize a series of wonderful activities, such as sports games, international volleyball match and talent show, so that students can fully release their energy and show their talent.

Excursions

Every Wednesday afternoon and each weekend, excursions will be arranged for sightseeing under teachers’ supervision all the way.
Every Wednesday afternoon a half-day excursion to the local towns of Shrewsbury or Telford is usually arranged for sightseeing and shopping. Each weekend there is a full day excursion to towns and cities in the UK, such as Chester, Oxford, Cambridge, Birmingham, Bristol, Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham, Cardiff, Stratford-upon-Avon, and etc., feeling the British culture and way of life. On the last day of the course there is a full-day excursion to a theme park, such as Warwick Castle, and a amusement park, such as Alton Towers.
In any short trip, the safeguarding of students is always the school’s top priority.The school bus is under teachers’ supervision. After getting off the bus, the teachers will distribute teacher's contact information and local map to each student, and assign someone to be on duty at the assembly point. No student is allowed to act alone.

Boarding Accommodation
The school will provide 3 meals a day. House parents are responsible for the student’s daily care and welfare. They will call up students in the morning, and make the rounds at 10:30 PM. Every room has a safe box.There is a regular school laundry day every week.The school will supervise the students to keep the room clean and tidy. It will also send someone to clean the room every day and change the sheets once a week.
Summer School participants usually can stay in a single room. A small number of double rooms are available.Older students (16+) will have their own bathroom, while younger students will share the bathroom with 3-4 others.Students are not allowed to leave school without permission (unless they go to the store at the school gate). As a top boarding school, rules and regulations of Concord College are very stringent, ensuring that children can learn and grow in a healthy and safe environment.

The Summer School Programmes of Concord College aim to help students from all over the world improve their English, make friends with young people from different cultures and countries, and experience the British way of life. Undoubtedly, your child will have a good summer vacation in Kant.
