Moreton Hall
Moreton Hall School was founded in 1913. It covers 100 acres and is located in the beautiful Shropshire. The transportation is very convenient, one hour to Manchester, Birmingham and Liverpool International Airport. Moreton Hall has a preparatory school, a senior school and an international study centre. At present, 547 students are enrolled in the school. The age range of female students is 3-18 years old. The age range of male students is 3-11 years old. 60% of the students are full boarders. The proportion of boarders in senior school is more than 85%. As the first British independent boarding school to accept Chinese students and with nearly 30 years of Chinese student education experience, it can provide students with a friendly and warm learning environment and meticulous family care.
Academic Achievements and Pastoral Care
Moreton Hall is one of the leading independent high schools in the UK. In the A-Level exam of 2018, the rate of A*/A was 51.03% and 75.26% for A*/B. Approximately 1/3 of the students achieved A* or A in every subjects and more than 90% of the students were admitted to their first choice university. In the GCSE test, over half of all grades awarded the equivalent of A* and A . 98% of students achieving the English Baccalaureate (5 or more passes in core GCSE subjects). The principal said: "Much has been written in the national press about the more rigorous examinations and the pressure placed on students. I firmly believe that at Moreton Hall we have a unique environment and the right balance of nurture and stretch, which is exemplified in these outstanding results.”
Academic progress is as important as pastoral caring. Every student has his or her own academic tutor who arranges meetings at least twice a week to conduct a one-on-one or small group discussions. Tutors would monitor their learning progress and set goals to ensure that students could cope with all kinds of problems with their best ability. Moreover, tutors would keep in touch with houseparents on a daily basis to get the track of students’ growth and deliver the information to the academic department.
