Sidcot School

Founded in 1699, Sidcot School is a flourishing co-educational independent school in England. The school is located in Somerset near Bristol and Bath, and two hours away by train from London. Students are able to take the advantage of both country and city life in the sense that students can concentrate on studying in the quiet environment, and it is convenient for them to go to the city to participate in other education opportunities and weekend activities as well. Sidcot is in the southwest of England, and it is about 15 miles away from Bristol. It takes about 1 hour ride to Bath and two hour to London by train. Bristol International Airport is just nine miles away and it takes 15 minutes by taxi. Heathrow Airport is two hours away. School drivers will provide shuttle service at the beginning, half-term and end of the semester. Located in the village of Winscombe, students can enjoy both the beautiful natural scenery and convenient access to two major cultural centers, Bristol and Bath. Weston-super-Mare's coast is eight miles away.
 
Excellent Academic Achievements
The students of Sidcot achieved excellent grades in the A-Level exam 2018. The ratio of A*/A was 39.7% compared to the national average of 26.4%. In addition, the ratio of A*/C was 81%. Nearly 50% of the students went on to the universities of the Russell Group, and 70% of the students enrolled in their first-choice university. Students here also achieved remarkable GCSE grades. The ratio of A*/7 is 21.2%, and the ratio of A*/7 to C/4 is 86.4%.

At Sidcot, the Centre for Peace and Global Studies further develops this approach. The school encourages school to explore more comprehensive issues with a global perspective and to express their values through practical actions. 
   The Art Centre at Sidcot has professional art and media facilities for painting, sculpture, photography and digital media. In the music department there are professional performance halls, practice rooms, recording studios and music technology suites. A whole range of sports are on offer at Sidcot: football, rugby, hockey, cricket, netball, tennis, athletics, horse-riding, fencing, golf, dance, water polo, basketball, table tennis, dry slope skiing and many more, including some more unusual activities like circus skills and ‘Octopush’ (underwater hockey). The school has a busy fixtures list throughout the year playing competitively against local schools with some excellent results. In the Sports Centre students have use of a superb 25 metre indoor heated pool, a multi-function gym, sports hall and squash court. The school also has a well-developed equestrian center. The school equestrian team participates in the top national competitions and achieves the highest level of results. Boarding students can bring their own horses and be instructed by professional equestrian coaches in schools. For students who don't have their own horses but want to ride or beginners in equestrian, schools can arrange courses at local equestrian venues.
